Codes and Conventions of Music Videos

The codes for r&b music videos are:
- Equipment used e.g cameras, studios, props e.t.c. This could include big houses and fast cars.
- Symbolic codes such as the emotions of the person and how they portray that in their music video. For example, love, fights, break-ups.

The conventions for music videos are:
This is way of how the artist behaves in the video which then makes the genre of the song recognizable. For example for a Hip Hop music video we would be able to recognize the fast cars, big jewelry and glamorous girls, (just like 50 Cent has)! This is what my video would most probably include as I am doing an r&b video.

My Chosen Song

For my music video I have chosen 'Nikki by The Dream'. It is a song about being cheated on.

I am working independently on my music video.
I am going to give the Demographics and Psychographics of an audience member that would most probably enjoy 'Nikki' -
The Primary Audience would be the demographics of:
Ages: 13 - 26
Class: C, D & E
Occupation: Students, Part-time workers
Gender: Male and Female
Cultural Background: Black, Asian and White
Psychographics:
An average listener to 'Nikki' would most probably be a teenager or early twenties. They would enjoy listening to R&B, Hip-hop and Rap music. The song is about cheating and love so a listener would maybe have experience being cheated on and loving someone. They would like a glamorous lifestyle including sleek cars, nice 'cribs' and a sexy girlfriend.

Here is a video that plays half of the song.
